House Season 5 in Review

I was sick the past few days, so I rewatched some of Season 5. And now I've taken a few screencaps and wrote up some thoughts on the season as a whole.

Failure to Communicate & Both Sides Now

I don't know if I'll post this anywhere, 'cause I don't know if there's anywhere it really belongs. It's about House/Cuddy, but fans of the pairing probably won't like it much.

I decided to watch all of Doris Egan's episodes (because all but one or two are my absolute favorite episodes of the series), the first of which is "Failure to Communicate." And I noticed there were some parallels to "Both Sides Now." (And kind of interesting in contrast to this meta I wrote.) Since I write essays compulsively, here I am.

Star Trek

I am the daughter of a Trekkie (Aunt: "Trekkers! Trekkers!), so I watched and enjoyed Stark Trek by default, and sometimes make somewhat obscure references to both the original series and The Next Generation.

So, of course, I saw the reboot film.

House, Wilson, and Romance Tropes

What can I say? I'm stricken by the amount of romance tropes used in House/Wilson storylines on the show - such as the classic moment depicted in my icon - especially starting with Season 4's Amber Arc.

Because I'm too lazy to come up with a list myself, and to make sure I wasn't imagining it, I moseyed on over to TV Tropes. This is what I found House/Wilson storylines fit into...

I finally caught up with S4 of Doctor Who, which stirred up my Martha crush and brought up some thoughts about Doctor Who fandom and my interpretation of the Martha character.

Not All Subtext is Created Equal

When it comes to slash pairings, I can differentiate between my perverted desires and subtext that's actually there, thanks. House, MD happens to be fraught with legitimate subtext between House and Wilson, whether the show creators intended it or not; never have I seen a slash pairing that casual viewers pick up on or gets unintentionally treated as a legitimate pairing underneath vehement denial. There's something different going on in House.

I've written this for the choir, who already knows all the answers; the skeptics, who claim to see nothing but friendship and think we're crazy; and even those who are picking up on something but can't put their fingers on it. I'll be comparing and contrasting House/Wilson to the Sean/Christian, Willow/Tara, and Jack/Ianto relationships. Naturally, there are spoilers ahoy for Torchwood (only up to episode 201), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Nip/Tuck. Oh, and House, MD, of course.

( Because writing it down is the only way to get it out of my head so I can do more important stuff. )

The Nana-House Connection

Also known as, my dorkiness grows with each day. This is not one of my...more organized (or well-edited) metas, especially since I have a much bigger one on the way (compare/contrast of the subtext in House, Buffy, Nip/Tuck, and Torchwood, woohoo!) and I'm suffering massive shock from Torchwood S2 possibly being good.
